Source chapters: Chapter 2| Chapter 2 | Tamsin says he saw the ball sit up awkwardly during Goro's missed chance and that the fault was not in Goro's feet. When Goro complains that something always goes wrong, Tamsin answers that this happens to everyone. Tamsin describes a dream from the previous night, before the game, containing green steps down a hillside and trees across stacked fields. An old bell sounds below before wind arrives, a sequence he remembers clearly despite being unable to explain his certainty. He calls this his clearest dream and says he has never encountered a place resembling it. He laughs with some embarrassment and suggests that his mam would blame nerves, then tells Goro to put the account aside. |
