- D-01: Cloud Orchard. Terraced groves above a sea of cloud, tended by steward families, with an old two-note bell at the lowest gate.
- Wenna Belltrue: The youngest of the steward children, who notices what the grown-ups don't.
- D-02: Gearglow. A warm amber clockwork city that hums all day.
- Ada: Fixes what the city's maintenance misses.
- D-09: The wilds. Wild grazing country of gorse, grey rock and mist.
- Bram: Reads the wilds like a language. Mott: The creature who follows Bram everywhere.
- D-12: Saltsong. A singing tidal harbour of green quay steps and golden lanterns.
- Caleb Coorl: A shy boy in a harbour where everyone sings, carrying one melody nobody taught him.
- D-13: Low Quilt. Football on mended dirt, home of the patched blue-grey Sparrows.
- Goro: Reads a game two passes early, and plays for the Sparrows.
